NEW SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY...

Brian Gurney Memorial Scholarship Created

The family of Brian Gurney established the Brian Gurney Memorial Scholarship after his passing on December 21, 2016.  Brian worked very hard to recover but died from injuries sustained in a fall on August 8, 2014. He attended Lucille Umbarger Elementary school where he had many wonderful teachers, coaches, and mentors.  Brian was an honor graduate with the class of 2013 from BEHS.  He loved every part of being a Tiger.  He played football, managed the basketball team, and was on the track team.  Brian was honored to be the most inspiriational, team captain, and most perfect Tiger for several years in a row.  He was also a great student who had self discipline and knew how to budget his time wisely.  Brian always wanted to be a WSU Cougar and was accepted to WSU in his senior year.  He pledged Beta Theta Pi fraternity and was selected as pledge of the year in 2014.  This scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 and will be awarded to a student who has participated in multiple sports while at B-EHS; has actively participated in school clubs and or/or ASB; has a demonstrated record of community involvement/volunteerism; and has a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
